Potter-Dix Public Schools - Safe Return to School Plan

Potter-Dix Public Schools Safe to Return to Schools Survey

Schools across the nation are eligible to receive federal funding through the American Rescue Plan Act (ESSR III).  A requirement to receive this funding is the collection of feedback from the community on the efforts made by the school district to return to school.  The 2021-22 Potter-Dix Public Schools Safe Return to School Plan and related survey are located below.  Please note the plan is very similar to the how we started the last school year.  We plan to on proceeding with a normal school year.  Please read the plan and complete the survey at your earliest convenience.

Potter-Dix Safe Return to School Plan 2021-22

  • School will begin as scheduled on August 18th with an 11:30 dismissal.

  • Teachers will give students pre-tests and other informal assessments to determine if students are lacking necessary skills or if remedial instruction is needed.  All Special Education students will receive appropriate accommodations via their IEP.  Staff will also monitor students' social, emotional, and mental health needs providing assistance as necessary.

  • Teachers are trying to keep students as physically separated within classrooms while still allowing interaction with one another as necessary in an educational setting.

  • Transportation will be provided to the normal locations and rural routes.

  • Custodial and lunch staff will spend extra time cleaning and disinfecting.  The district has electrostatic fogging machines to assist in disinfecting the buildings and vehicles.  These fogging machines will be used in addition to our normal cleaning and disinfecting procedures.

  • Hand washing will be emphasized and hand sanitizer will be available throughout the buildings and vehicles.

  • If there are any confirmed cases within the staff or students only the people required by PPHD would be quarantined and the rest of the district would function as planned.

  • Parents are requested to screen their children prior to coming to school and if they are sick please keep them at home.  If parents would like more information regarding vaccinations they are encouraged to consult with their family doctor.

  • Masks, temperature checks prior to entering the building and vehicles, as well as the use of remote learning will not be required at this time.  If parents want their child to wear a mask they will be welcome to do so.

Due to the ever changing nature of the pandemic, moving forward the administration and Board of Education will monitor conditions related to the spread of COVID-19 and hold additional meetings to modify this plan as changing conditions dictate.
