This October, the Potter-Dix FFA bought four steers at the Ogallala sale barn with the help of Charlie Singleton. These steers were bought weighing a little over 900 pounds. Towards the end of February, FFA members took the steers to be weighed. These steers weighed 1,466 pounds on average, gaining a little over four pounds a day. At the Annual Labor Auction and Oyster Fry, the chapter sold three of the steers with the other two being donated to the school. The steers were taken to slaughter at D & L Meats in Ovid, Colorado. The Potter-Dix FFA chapter would like to thank Daryl Thompson, who donated five locker appointments, Royce McConnell, who provided a place to keep the steers; Ray Woten, who donated a steer; and Sidney Feed and Seed, who let us use their creep feeder and supplied feed. They plan to purchase more steers and sell them at next year’s labor auction.
