Mr. Mumm's PE class has been given the opportunity to participate in the archery program. Catherine Wiekhorst, director of the Wildcat Hills Complex, spearheaded the archery program here. It's part of the National Archery in the Schools Program, which is a nation-wide curriculum taught to students ranging from upper elementary all the way through high school. Students are taught the history of archery, the terminology of the equipment, proper shooting form, and scoring. It's a great way to introduce students to the world of archery and open up the opportunity for competition in the future. Students who are interested are able to compete on a district, state, national, and international level. With the success of the program in the high school, the plan is to take it to the junior high and upper elementary within the next year or two.
