Potter-Dix Attends County Government Day
There was nothing but Smiles at County Government Day
On Wednesday, February 23, members of the senior class went with Mr. Christensen to attend Morrill County Government Day. The day began with introductions of Potter-Dix, Bayard, and Bridgeport students that were organized into groups to tour the various offices of Morrill County. Students visited the county clerk, election commissioners, treasurer, assessors, veterans affairs, roads, emergency management, county sheriff, extension, and attorneys' offices. During their tour, students had the opportunity to participate in various activities such as vote tabulation, flag folding. property assessment mapping and formulation, and an up-close look at a road maintainer. Following a catered lunch, everyone went to the district courtroom to participate in a mock trial with Potter-Dix students serving as the jury, and the Morril County students serving as the prosecution and defense, both assisted by the county attorney Mr. Travis Rodak and the Morrill County Public Defender, Ms. Audrey Elliot. Overall, the students had a very insightful and eventful day.
